In order to create a rounded collection relevant market research was undertaken to provide knowledge about the products currently available. This identified a section of the menswear in which the final collection will sit. Gathering market research also allowed for information to be obtained in terms of scale and the materials used.

In terms of principles and materials used, Paul Smith was a big influence for this project. He is renowned for a creative aesthetic that combines tradition with modernity, he uses colours and extra detailing in order to give a degree of modernity whilst still appealing to his target audience.
